The value for this hotel was good. We had a loft bedroom, plus a roomy couch that could be used as another bed, a kitchenette, dining room and spa. They are affiliated with the hotel next door, so you can use the pool and restaurant there as well. There are just three caveats. Laundry: There is a washing machine and dryer, but they are pretty weak and slow. It would be better to go to an actual laundromat. Distance: It is quite a long walk into the center of town. It is all on the same street, so you will not get lost, but you will be wandering long enough to worry. The smell: Rotorua is surrounded by sulfur springs, which is a benefit to the town in that they can get inexpensive heating, but the smell is always present. This has nothing to do with the Gwendoline, because it will be an issue anywhere you stay. Just be aware.
